Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

2006/7 Commonwealth Photographic Awards

The goal of the Commonwealth Press Union (CPU) photography competition is to offer a view of how people in the Commonwealth see themselves and others in the context of the mixture of races, creeds, cultures and ways of life. It is open to Commonwealth residents for submission of photographs to one of three separate competitions:

  • The Regional/Overall Category award is on the theme "Achievement". The Overall Prize is UK£1,000.
  • The Canberra Times/CPU Young Photographer residency award will be offered to a young person, aged 21-25, from a developing country. The prize is a three-week photographic residency at the Canberra Times offices in Canberra, Australia.
  • The "Three Pictures - One Story" award invites entrants to create a storyboard. The purpose is to tell a story of achievement in three pictures. The prize for this Award is UK£250.

All entrants must be over 18 years of age.
Deadline for applications is April 27 2007.
