1. Gender Based Violence & Health Research Award - Deadline April 2 2002 - awards from the South African Gender-Based Violence & Health Initiative (SAGBVHI) will be given to researchers from South Africa at the 1st Gender Based Violence & Health Conference, South Africa, April 17-19 2002. 2. The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis & Malaria - Deadline March 10 2002 - approximately $700 million available for disbursement during 2002. The Fund will give priority to proposals from countries and regions with the greatest need, based on highest burden of disease and the least ability to bring financial resources to address the target issues. 3. Reporting on the Environment Awards - Deadline April 1 2002 - a $1000 prize will be awarded in each of 9 categories, recognising the year's best environmental journalism in newspapers, magazines, and newsletters, and on television, radio and the Internet. 4. Vega Awards - Deadline June 22 2002 - for excellence in scientific broadcasting with an emphasis on scientific content. Programmes must have been made in the last 18 months, on a science, engineering or technology related subject. Must be in English or subtitled/dubbed appropriately for English.
