Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText
This book is a sequel to e-Content: Voices from the Ground - Version 1.0. The first version was produced for the United Nations (UN) World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in Geneva, Switzerland in 2003; this update has been produced for the UN WSIS in Tunis 2005. In 2003 the book was produced by the jurors of the World Summit Award (WSA) Grand Jury in Dubai, in 2005 it has been produced by the WSA Grand Jury of Bahrain. In 38 interviews the national WSA experts and Grand Jurors present their view on the electronic (e-) content situation in their country.

With a basic fact file about each country and an explanation of how e-content is understood in that country, Sequel 2.0 gives a good background for comparative analysis of the information and communication technology (ICT) framework across countries. The book differs from the last edition as this new edition contains more than 400 examples of "best" practices across the 8 categories in the countries of all six continents; e-government, e-culture, e-business, e-learning, e-entertainment, e-science, e-health and e-inclusion.
