Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Ending Violence Against Women Forum - Global

"Ending Violence Against Women" is a programme of The Development Forum, which is a public venue for online discussions on development issues sponsored by the World Bank on behalf of the entire development community.
Communication Strategies

This Dialogue links activists in the field, decision-makers at multilateral organizations, and others to identify successful strategies for eradicating violence against women, and build commitments for supporting them
Development Issues

Women, rights, political development.
Key Points

Around the world, women and girls are victims of countless acts of violence - simply because they are female. Over the past 20 years, the international community has come to recognize the range and frequency of gender-based violence, and has redefined national and international responses. Discussions in the Development Forum are open to participants from around the world. In order to assure that those with limited Internet access can participate, these dialogues are conducted by means of moderated email lists, archived to the Development Forum web site.
