Global AIDS Alliance - Communications Intern
The Global AIDS Alliance (GAA), a small non-governmental organization focused on United States (US) and global advocacy to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS around the world is looking for a committed hard-working intern to support and expand GAA's grassroots presence in the US. The grassroots intern will participate in a wide scope of activities such as:
- Conduct research and outreach to targeted districts and constituencies
- Create materials that can be used on the ground
- Monitor local news coverage in targeted districts
- Participate in rapid response actions both on- and off-line, including blogging and writing letters to the editor
- Possible technical work assisting the Campaign to End Pediatric AIDS (CEPA) network
- Research media sources both domestically and abroad
- Participate in coalitional conference calls and meetings representing the Global AIDS Alliance
- Some light administrative work such as data entry and preparing mailings
Strong community organizing, internet research, and organizational skills are a must. Background in community, internet, political, or advocacy organizing or media relations a plus. Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel required.
