Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText

Ideagora is an online professional network of individuals, organisations, and professional groups engaged in knowledge and resource sharing, research, social policy, political strategy, technology issues, and business policies. Ideagora focuses on generating ideas and supports projects that result in sustainable solutions and actionable outcomes, using the strategy that, when a significant group of cross-discipline thinkers and doers come together "under one roof", all participants benefit from a shared commitment to results. This resource aims to highlight ideas and creative solutions to enhance the global educational process via technology, digital content, social media, and web 2.0 tools.

In addition to posting discussions and blogs, members are invited to post their articles on the creative use of information technology to enhance education and training in academic, commercial, and governmental settings, with the basic assumption that innovation in one sector can inform practice in each of the other sectors. Those interested in posting an article can view the suggested guidelines.

The website includes the following sections:

  • Discussion & Articles
  • Webcasts & Archives
  • Book Club Picks
  • Blog Posts
