Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

This collection of stories, in both a print edition and an online edition, aims to show examples of how civil society has made a difference in conflict areas around the world. The online collection, from the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict of the European Centre for Conflict Prevention (ECCP), includes stories from the two publications: People Building Peace I and II, as well as new stories not previously published in the editions from the ECCP. These stories are structured under themes. The theoretical chapters from "People Building Peace II: Successful stories of Civil Society" are to be found under 'Reflection' chapters. In addition to being organised by thematic category, the collection can be searched by country or region, author, organisation, photo from the picture gallery, or by name using the search engine.

If you wish to recommend a story for inclusion in this collection or would like to purchase any of the books, please contact Charlotte Crockett: c.crockett@conflict-prevention.net
