Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

The YPMN will be driven by its grassroots members - the youth media initiatives/organisations. However, the YPMN will need some form of coordinating body to promote networking, fundraising and other kinds of support to local groups. Which of the following models do you prefer?

Establish a small office with a four-person staff (2 adults, two young people)

Following a competitive bidding process (tender), identification of an existing youth media organisation to coordinate the network

No central coordination at all, but decentralized project support by individual member organisation

Other, Please Specify

The YPMN will need some form of oversight to ensure transparency and accountability. Which of the following alternatives would you find most appropriate?

YPMN guided by an Advisory Board consisting of senior NGO staff

YPMN guided by a Coordinating Committee consisting of senior NGO staff and young media practitioners

YPMN guided by a Board of Directors

Other, Please Specify
