The Zayed International Prize for the Environment
The Zayed Prize, awarded on a biennial basis, recognises and promotes pioneering contributions in the field of environment and sustainable development. The Zayed Prize is classified into three award categories:
- Global leadership in environment and sustainable development: US$500,000
- Scientific/ technological achievements in environment: US$300,000
- Environmental action leading to positive change in society: US$200,000
The Zayed Prize was established by H.H. Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, in recognition of the philosophy, vision, and achievements of former President, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who worked to preserve and protect the environment for future generations of his country, the region, and the world.
