Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText
This factsheet, published by Desert Soul Health and Development Communication, offers information on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Namibia. As stated in the fact sheet "Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) can be understood as the right for all, whether young or old, women, men or transgender, straight, gay, lesbian or bisexual, HIV positive or negative, to make choices regarding their own sexuality and reproduction, providing these respect the rights of others to bodily integrity. This definition also includes the right to access information and services needed to support these choices and optimize health. However, there is a range of different understandings of SRHR. Some of these understandings focus more on health; others draw attention to the significance of rights in women’s and men’s sexual and reproductive choices." The factsheet covers the following related to SRHR:
  • What are Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
  • The Global Context
  • Sexual Health in Namibia
  • Myths and Misconception about Sexual Health
  • Risk Factors for Sexual Health
