Development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText

Produced as part of the Young People's Sexual and Reproductive Health Information and Services Advocacy (YPISA) programme, this resource kit consists of a training manual for training young people, caregivers, and service providers, as well as a flipchart for use by sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) champions to train their peers.

The handbook provides trainers with a comprehensive tool to train young people as SRHR champions in their communities. It is also designed to be a reference book for parents, service providers, teachers, and carers on the integration of sexual reproductive health and rights and HIV services.

YPISA is a set of initiatives designed to train and empower young people with knowledge on SRHR and HIV services and to become champions for adolescent SRHR in their communities. Besides the flipchart, SRHR champions are also provided with an identity badge, a notebook and pen, and a referral slip book so they can refer young people to the relevant service providers for further assistance.
